Dear Potential Team Member,
I manage recruitment for Cumming and thought it might be nice to remove the veil that so often surrounds the recruiting process. We, as a team, fully understand the frustration of pursuing new career opportunities. This is why we’ve taken the time to provide this information to you. Our goal is to be as transparent and up-front as possible.
One area of concern that many online applicants share is the thought that no one will see their resume, or that it will get lost in a blackhole of paperwork and filing systems. Rest assured, we receive each resume that is submitted through our corporate careers website. When a position opens up within our firm, we carefully review each of these resumes to determine the best fit.
This is but one of the many questions that applicants often have. Below, I have answered some additional FAQs, which I hope will further educate you on the recruitment process within Cumming.
Our Recruiting Department is currently a team of three people. This includes myself, Lila Leong, and Erin Hurd. During the process, you may correspond with one or all of us depending on the needs of the position. We also receive support from various other members within our Human Resources and Administrative team.
Finally, please feel free to utilize the “chat” link when it is open on our careers website. Thank you for your time and best of luck in your career search!
1. When I submit my resume on your website, where does it go?
After a resume submission, your information is automatically stored in our Applicant Tracking System (ATS). Once it is in the ATS, the Recruiter assigned to that job will review it.
2. What exactly is your recruiting process?
Once a Recruiter has reviewed a resume, he/she will mark it as “did not meet job qualifications” or “follow-up”. If it is tagged as “follow-up”, the Recruiter will contact the candidate for a pre-screen phone call. During this time, we hope to learn more about you and, conversely, tell you more about us. Following that conversation, we will submit your information to the Hiring Manager. It is then up to the Hiring Manager as to whether or not he/she would like to interview you.
3. I submitted my resume and never heard from you. What happened?
Unfortunately, we cannot respond to every resume that is sent to us. It is not uncommon for us to receive 100 or even 200+ resumes for certain open positions. While we will review every resume, we simply do not have the bandwidth to reply to every resume that is submitted.
4. When I use the “Chat with a Recruiter” link on your website, who am I talking to?
Scott Weaver or Lila Leong.
5. Why can’t I just send my resume directly to you or a Hiring Manager?
You are welcome to do that. When you submit your resume directly to us via email or regular mail, it is not automatically loaded into our system and, therefore, will not be searchable or viewable when we view resumes in our ATS. So while it’s perfectly fine to do so, your resume may actually receive more attention by following the standard procedure of applying through our website.
6. How long will the application process take?
Sometimes an opening has a specific deadline; other times, we will wait as long as it takes for the right person. Our average time from position opening to position closing is 4-5 weeks, which includes the candidate notice period.
7. What if I’m interested in working with Cumming, but do not see a position that matches my background?
You can submit your resume for general interest here. Additionally, you can sign up for an RSS feed to be notified whenever a new position becomes available, or you can simply visit our website on a regular basis. We edit/add positions weekly.
8. Where can I find more information about Cumming’s benefits or training programs?
All of this information can be found here.
9. How long will my resume be stored in your system? If a new job becomes available, should I resubmit my resume, or will you automatically review it again?
Resumes are stored indefinitely. When a new position is posted, we first look at candidates already in the system. However, if you have interest in a new position and have already applied previously for a separate position, then it’s as easy as clicking a button.
10. Does Cumming offer internship positions or programs?
While we don’t employ very many interns, we do typically have 5 or so interns throughout the country at any given time. If this is something that interests you, please use our contact form on the right side of this page.
11. Can I resubmit my resume if it has been revised and updated?
Yes. To do so, please log-in and attach your current resume. Recruiters will now see the new version when looking at your resume.
12. Am I able to submit my name for consideration on more than one opening?
Yes. You may submit your resume for as many positions as you want. However, we would prefer that our candidates submit for consideration only on openings that truly align with their experience and qualifications.
