Cumming Selected by Hilton Worldwide to Deliver Project Management Services on Four Western U.S. Properties

Through competitive RFP processes, Cumming has recently been awarded project management services agreements on four Hilton Worldwide projects across California, Washington, and Texas. Cumming is to deliver cost and project management services on all four properties, with each involving various degrees of renovation. The total combined value of the projects is approximately $19 million. The properties include the Doubletree Mission Valley in San Diego, California; the Doubletree Hotel Spokane City Center in Spokane, Washington; the Doubletree Hotel Seattle Airport in Seattle, Washington; and the Embassy Suites Austin – Downtown/Town Lake in Austin, Texas.

Cumming’s primary role is to ensure not only that each property remains operational during construction, but also that the utmost attention is being paid to the Hilton guest experience throughout the process. The Cumming team will help develop logistics and phasing plans for each project, hire the A&E team, manage the design process, procure the contractor, perform on-site construction management, and lead all FF&E and close-out activities. The projects are currently underway with final completion set for March of 2012.

UCSD Selects Cumming for Infrastructure Upgrades

Earlier this week, the University of California, San Diego’s Facilities Design & Construction group selected Cumming to augment its internal Healthcare Project Management Team during the implementation of $125 million in infrastructure improvements system-wide. Project types anticipated under the program include upgrades to roofs, site utilities, and HVAC and other mechanical and electrical systems. These improvements will be undertaken at the La Jolla and Hillcrest Medical Centers, as well as at several University-owned medical office buildings throughout the region.

Mr. Gary Wissert, Project Executive with Cumming, will serve as Project Manager for the work. Gary will leverage his strong background in M/E/P systems design and construction, along with his expertise in job order contracting, to support the initiative.

Host Hotels Selects Cumming for Manhattan Beach Marriott Project

Cumming has been selected by Host Hotels and Resorts to provide complete project management from planning through close-out. This project, valued at more than $5 million, comprises the renovation of all guest restrooms and corridors at the Manhattan Beach Marriott. Cumming will also provide cost estimating services, including the development of the budget, schedule, and investment committee scope. The project is scheduled to be complete in October 2011.

Host Hotels Calls Upon Cumming Once Again for JW Marriott Desert Springs’ Upgrades

The JW Marriott Desert Springs has long stood as one of Marriott’s flagship resorts under the JW Marriott line. Originally constructed in 1987, this award-winning four-star resort is one of the largest resort and convention complexes in the southwestern United States.

Host Hotels, the owner of the resort, has reengaged Cumming to manage the soft goods renovations of all 884 rooms, as well as manage the complete repositioning of the property’s Lakeview Restaurant. Additionally, many of the facility’s 64 suites will receive more extensive renovations, and all handicap accessible rooms will be brought up to current federal ADA guidelines.

Cumming Selected by Host Hotels to Implement “Great Room” Concept

This approximately $3 million project involves the creation of more open space within the hotel – a design Marriott refers to as its “great room” concept – along with extensive improvements and upgrades to its fitness center.
